On Sunday morning I will be jumping into the waters of Tempe Town Lake, ready to toe the line of Ironman Arizona – as a PROFESSIONAL triathlete!
This moment has been a long time coming. I was the kid in a diaper and sandles who hung out on the shores of Lake Mead while her parents took turns open water swimming. The high schooler who commuted to swim and cross country practice via mountain bike. And the college grad who thought she was done with athletics, only to be rescued by some amazing people and introduced to the glorious lifestyle known as multisport.
I can’t believe how lucky I am. Racing as a pro triathlete! This is such a huge opportunity and it really is thanks to SO MANY PEOPLE who have helped me over the past 27 years. So thank you – all of you!! My friends, family, teammates, coaches, co-workers, blog-readers – YOU are the reason I am here! Because of you I get to see how I stack up against some of the fastest Ironman triathletes in the world and THAT is pretty damn cool!!!
I plan to show my thanks through a spectacular performance on Sunday. But in case that isn’t enough, I also drew this card:
Thanks for cheering. And KEEP BELIEVING because this is just the beginning!!!
