Last weekend I followed Olympian Gwen Jorgensen and 70.3 World Champion Melissa Hauschildt – not across a finish line, but as the guest speaker at a Dream Team Triathlon event!
Dream Team Triathlon is a seriously awesome kids triathlon team with clubs in Athens, Atlanta, and Augusta. The team introduces kids to the fun parts of endurance sports – setting goals, living healthy, and making lots of great friends!
The coaches encourage the kids to “Dream Big” and follow the results of the athletes they’ve met as examples of how far they can go in sports!
I was a little nervous about talking to the team. Following Gwen and Melissa meant I had some HUGE shoes to fill! But Dream Team Coach Harvey treated me like a rockstar and I’m pretty sure Coach Kim is one of the most organized people on the planet. Kim and Harvey took care of everything, and all I had to do was talk about one of my favorite conversation topics – swimming!!
Now those are some AMAZING listeners!
I also got lucky that Ryan (aka Vegas birthday boy) recently joined the Dream Team Coaching staff. He made the perfect drill instructor!

I loved meeting the kids and their parents. They asked GREAT questions and I could definitely tell there was a lot of talent in the group!

And BIG NEWS – the Dream Team just found out they’ll be hosting a USAT Splash and Dash race at the Athens YWCO in September 2013! I’m sure it’s going to be a HUGE success and I can’t wait for my chance to cheer them on! Go Dream Team!
